December 2011

2 days until the official start of My Year Of Reading.

Now is the time to set out the rules (of my making) that I aim to follow in the coming year.

My Aim:
To read (and comment on) 366 books in 2012 (one book for every day of the year)

My Rules:

I will post comments on one book every day, for 366 days in 2012.
I am limiting myself to children's and teenage books, as this is my area of interest and expertise.
I will read any of the following types of books:
  • Children's Picture Books
  • Children's Fiction
  • Teenage Fiction
  • Audiobooks (being 'read to', is not technically 'me' reading, but I love audiobooks, and it means I can 'read' while I drive, so they're on the list )
  • Teenage or children's non-fiction if anything takes my fancy.
I will only include titles published in late 2011 or 2012.

Fine print
While I will publish a post about one book a day, I am not necessarily going to read a book a day.
The books I comment on will have been read sometime in the week before the post date. I can't predict that I will have the ability to read one book a day, life being what it is, but I know I can read at least 7 in a week, hence the 366 books, not "a book a day".
Any age guides given are just that, guides.  I tend to err on the side of caution when giving an age recommendation for a book, but if you have any queries about an individual title please feel free to get in touch.

2012 National Year of Reading

Before I get started I will just highlight the reason I plan to underatake my Year of Reading.

In 2012 it is the Australian National Year of Reading.

While I am not directly involved in the initiative, I am an avid reader and a big user of public libraries.  I wanted to do something to celebrate. This 366books blog is my way of sharing what I read, and hopefully encouraging others to do so.
